Thigh Lift & Buttock Lift Specialists Atlanta

The surgeons of Artisan Plastic Surgery have helped many Atlanta thigh and buttock lift patients. Please read more about the procedure below and to learn whether you are a suitable candidate for the surgery.

Thigh lift benefits

A thigh lift restores a smoother, firmer, more slender, and more youthful shape to the thighs by removing excess skin and lifting sagging tissues. A buttock lift is often combined with thigh lift surgery for more comprehensive rejuvenation and reshaping of the lower body. Incisions are carefully placed along the groin crease, along the hip bone, and/or underneath the buttock crease so that scars can be hidden by swimsuits or underwear once healed.

Following a thigh/buttock lift, patients feel more confident showing their legs in shorts, skirts, and swimsuits, and they even find that jeans and pants fit them better once the excess, sagging skin is gone from the thighs and buttocks.

Am I a good candidate for a butt & thigh lift?

It’s important to understand that a thigh lift is not a weight loss procedure, nor will it reduce significant fat accumulation in the hips, thighs, or buttocks. The best candidates are healthy and happy with their current body weight, give or take a few pounds, and who are bothered by moderate to severe skin laxity or sagging tissues in their butt, thighs, or lower body.

If excess fat pockets are your main concern, liposuction may be better suited to your needs. If you are bothered by mild skin laxity and dimpling in your thighs, but do not have significant sagging, a non-surgical skin tightening procedure such as SkinTyte may be a good option. Our plastic surgeons will help you understand all your options, and what results you might expect with each, at your personal consultation.

What does the surgery involve?

A thigh and butt lift is performed on an outpatient basis while you are under general anesthesia, unless otherwise advised by your plastic surgeon. Incision patterns can vary widely, depending on your personal goals and desires, as well as the location and amount of skin to be removed and tissues to be tightened.

Through these incisions, your plastic surgeon will lift and reshape the thighs and/or buttocks, helping to restore a smoother, firmer appearance. A thigh or buttock lift on its own will not remove much fat, but our plastic surgeons can combine the procedure with liposuction to help reduce fat deposits as well as lift sagging tissues.

At the end of surgery, you will be placed in a compression garment (similar to a long-line elastic support girdle) to reduce swelling and to assist in the natural shrinking and tightening of the skin.

Thigh & buttock lift recovery

With smaller thigh lifts, initial discomfort is usually easily controlled with prescription pain medication. Larger thigh lifts or lower body lifts may require an overnight stay in a skilled nursing facility. Once you go home, light, frequent walking is encouraged to help with circulation, but you will have to refrain from strenuous activity for about 6 to 8 weeks.  Bruising and swelling usually subside dramatically within the first month, and results are nearly final within about 6 months.
