To better serve our patients, we now offer laughing gas, or PRO-NOX™, for patient-controlled inhaled analgesia for in-office use. A therapy long-employed for dental procedures and to decrease pain in labor, laughing has takes effect within seconds and offers immediate relief of pain and anxiety. We are so excited to offer this amazing therapeutic addition to our patients!
Artisan Plastic Surgery acquired the PRO-NOX™ device in the summer of 2017, and we are offering it for in-office surgical procedures (like blepharoplasty, liposuction, and scar revisions), laser treatments, Ultherapy, microneeding, and aesthetic injections, to name a few. Laughing gas is portable and easy to use, making it an ideal addition to our practice at Artisan Plastic Surgery. This system is patient-controlled; when you are feeling anxious or uncofmortable, a few deep breaths through the PRO-NOX™ mouthpiece deliver a carefully calibrated mixture of laughing gas and oxygen to you, decreasing pain and anxiety almost instantly! Laughing gas can be used by the patient before, during, and after a procedure; our patients are loving this quick, safe, and easy way to get their aesthetic treatments with less discomfort than ever before.
The use of inhaled nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for decreasing the pain associated with childbirth was first described by a Russian physician in 1881. This therapy has been used in in the UK for well over 100 years, and in July 2013, the Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery System was cleared by the FDA for use in the United States. While some patients may be familiar with laughing gas in their dental practices, we are looking forward to bringing laughing gas into the aesthetic sphere.
