Greta: Breast Reconstruction after Second Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Greta talks about her breast reconstruction after a second diagnosis of breast cancer

After being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, I made the decision to have a bilateral mastectomy.  Because my doctors advised I would need to move quickly with treatment, they suggested that I should wait for the reconstruction.  Once treatment was over and my doctors gave me the OK, I admit that I was nervous about the reconstruction procedure.  I thought, this is a major surgery just to look better!  Was I being vain?  I made it through the mastectomy and treatment-should I really be taking another major risk?

Well, let me tell you, I was glad I did!  I can not fully explain the joy I felt when I awoke from surgery and looked at my chest.  I began to cry!  The nurses asked, “Why are you crying?”

I said, “Because I am so happy!”

I can honestly say, I have never felt more sexy in my life.  My relationship with my husband is better because I feel better about myself.  I am able to wear halter tops and fitted clothing because I have cleavage and a flat tummy.

Hooray for plastic surgery!  I feel blessed to have Dr. Ashraf as my plastic surgeon.  She did a wonderful job!
