Your breast augmentation takes one to two hours under general anesthesia at our Northside surgical location. You will sleep comfortably throughout and return home the same day with a trusted companion to stay with you overnight.

Day of surgery
You wake in a supportive surgical bra and return home the same day with someone to care for you overnight. Any discomfort is managed with prescribed medication.
Days 1 to 7
Rest and keep activity light. Sleep on your back with your head elevated, keep your arms below shoulder height, and wear your surgical bra at all times except to shower.
1 week
Most patients return to desk work. Your arm movement returns, though large overhead stretches should wait.
Weeks 1 to 3
Avoid lifting anything over 5 pounds, as well as pushing or pulling.
3 weeks
Gentle breast massage begins, one minute per breast, to help your implants settle softly and naturally.
6 weeks
Continue wearing a supportive bra through this point. Once cleared, you can return to exercise and wear any bra you like, including underwire.
3 to 6 months

Will breast implants lift my breasts?

What are the risks of breast augmentation?
Risks include capsular contracture, implant rupture, rippling, changes in sensation, asymmetry, and the possibility of future revision, along with general surgical risks. How long do breast implants last?

Should my implants go over or under the muscle?
This depends on how much natural breast tissue you have to cover the implant. Placement under the muscle often creates a softer upper slope and clearer mammogram images, with a slightly longer recovery. Placement over the muscle can offer an easier recovery when tissue coverage is sufficient. Your surgeon will recommend the best option for you.
How do I choose the right implant size?
