Fillers Pre-Care
If you’re interested in fillers in Atlanta, please schedule a consultation with one of our expert Artisan Beauté providers. We’ll discuss your goal and concerns, and examine your treatment areas so that we can guide you to the best filler product and treatment for your unique situation.
To prepare for your filler session(s), we recommend that you:
- Inform the team about any filler injections you’ve had before
- Avoid sun exposure and self-tanning for 2 or more weeks
- Stop taking anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, Advil, etc.) for 7 days
- Avoid ingesting St. John’s Wort and fish oil supplements for 7 days
- Don’t wax, bleach, tweeze, or use hair removal creams in the treatment area for at least 2 days
Filler Results
You can expect a filler session at Artisan Beauté to last around 30 to 60 minutes. The great news is that you can expect to see results soon after your session—once the initial swelling subsides.
Dermal fillers are often used to:
- Replenish volume
- Improve facial balance
- Enhance favored features
- Restore lost collagen
- Re-contour facial lines
- Reduce fine lines & wrinkles
- Diminish nasolabial folds
- Minimize marionette lines
- Improve sagging skin
Filler can last 8 to 24 months, but this duration depends greatly on how your body metabolizes the product, and your lifestyle choices.
Dermal Fillers and Collagen Induction
For more advanced dermal remodeling and facial contouring, your provider may recommend collagen induction. Utilizing best-in-class brands such as Sculptra and Radiesse—renowned for their groundbreaking filler products—these injectable biostimulators specifically boost collagen production.
Sculptra utilizes poly-L-lactic acid, while Radiesse employs calcium hydroxylapatite. Your licensed injector artfully places the biostimulator to act as a scaffold, encouraging the growth of new collagen fibers. This produces gradual and long-lasting improvements in skin texture, wrinkles, and volume loss, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Though not technically a filler, collagen induction does more subtly enhance volume over time as collagen production increases.
Dermal Fillers versus Botox
Botox and fillers differ mainly in their mechanisms and applications. Botox relaxes muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles caused by facial movements, while fillers add volume to enhance facial contours and possibly smooth static wrinkles.
We typically use Botox on the forehead, and to treat crow’s feet and frown lines. The effects of Botox become noticeable after a few days to a week, and subsequently last about 3 to 4 months. Fillers, often made from hyaluronic acid, are used in areas like the cheeks, lips, and under-eye hollows, providing immediate results that can last up to 2 years.
Consequently, Botox requires more frequent touch-ups compared to fillers, which offer longer-lasting results. At Artisan Beauté, your provider will help you decide if fillers, Botox, or a combination is best suited to your needs.
