Preparing for Your Facial Peel

For patients interested in receiving facial peels in Atlanta, it’s best to make an appointment for a consultation with one of our expert Artisan Beauté providers.

Prior to getting a chemical peel at Artisan Beauté, we ask that patients:

  • Limit sun exposure and don’t self-tan for at least 14 or more days
  • Avoid using retinoids, exfoliating creams, and products containing glycolic acid for 7 days
  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated for 7 days
  • Refrain from waxing, tweezing or shaving the area to be treated for 3 days
  • Use a mild cleanser for a few days leading up to the facial peel

Facial Peel Post-Care

After having one of our facial peels in Atlanta, we emphasize to patients how crucial the post-peel care is to the process. Peeling and redness are normal and expected.

During this peeling and healing time, we recommend that patients:

  • Only use gentle cleansers when washing the skin
  • Use medical grade skin products and strict sun protection on the face
  • Refrain from picking or peeling off any flaking skin
  • Avoid places or activities that create excess heat for at least 3 days

Depending on the type of peel recommended by a provider, we may require you to do a pre-treatment with specific products to prepare your skin.

What to Expect After Your Facial Peel

You’ll start seeing your results once the peeling process is complete. For light peels, this could be in as little as 1 to 3 days, while deeper peels might take up to 2 weeks for the skin to fully shed. Once this happens, you’ll notice softer wrinkles, improved texture, and smoother skin overall.

How long the results last depends on the type of peel and your skin, but typically:

  • Light peels: a few weeks to a month
  • Medium peels: several months
  • Deep peels: up to a year or more

To keep your results looking their best, it’s important to maintain a good skincare routine. During your consultation, your provider will discuss how to care for your skin and recommend a peel that fits your goals and lifestyle. They can also suggest a personalized treatment plan to help you get the most out of your results.

For lasting anti-aging benefits, we recommend coming back for a facial peel every 1 to 6 months.
